This year’s Pensacola ornament honors the Historic Snowstorm of 2025 that turned the Gulf Coast into a winter wonderland on January 21 and which broke 130-year-old records for the most snowfall (8.9 inches) and the coldest temperature (13º Fahrenheit) ever recorded in Pensacola. The ornament depicts the famous Pensacola Beach sign covered in snow, accompanied by a snowman and some seagulls. For this storm, the National Weather Service indicated that unusually cold and dry air, originating from the Arctic, collided with Gulf moisture, resulting in dry, fluffy snow that tended to accumulate. This type of powdery snow is more common in mountain areas than along the Gulf Coast.
